JOURNALIST OR COPY BOY?

Once upon a time in the land that used to be, we had reporters, now called journalists.  The reporter spent his time running after leads, sniffing around Police stations for something to write about that would get him a byline on the front page.  Or, if he was good enough, chasing a led the editor had given him.
Copy boy was the starting place for an aspiring reporter.  He was the "gopher" of the press room.  Ran errands, emptied waste baskets, etc.  And became a proof reader and re-write man.
Journalists today spend their time talking to other journalists and copying other's stories or staring at the computer for a clue of something to write about, true or not.  They mostly do not check the facts of what they copy, just regurgitate the story as received.  Only a few of what like to be called "journalist" ever dig and examine, and pry and even visit the scene, or even question what they see or hear.  What a pity in today's world where truth is so scarce........Medicineman!
